Perfect Puppy
I’ve recently discovered some new puppy food for Mimi that I think will be really good for her. It’s called Innova Holistic, and she already loves it. I’m transitioning her to it gradually, so that she can get adjusted to it. This week, I’m going to slowly train Mimi to walk better on the leash. She does fine now, but in an effort to make sure she knows that I’m the “pack leader”, I have to make sure she walks next to me or behind me. She usually does this naturally after the first ten minutes of walking, but I’d like her to do this all the time. Of course I’ll let her have her free moments, but I’m speaking in general.I would eventually like to take Mimi to some agility training when she gets a little older. Therefore, making sure she is well behaved will make it easier for me to take her to a class. I realize that she is still a puppy, only four and a half months old, but I can still train her the basics.Speaking of basics, she does the “sit” really well, and is learning to “stay” too. I’m not expecting her to “stay” too long at her age.Mimi is so good at playing by herself. She can entertain herself very well with her toys, which is so great. She can even play with two mini soccer balls at once! She loves to wrestle with her “snuggle puppy”, a big green soft stuffed toy, about as big as she is. She rolls around on the carpet with it, and it’s so cute.Ok, that’s enough for today…until next time… :)

I took the top photo because my apartment complex requires a photo for their tennant records. The bottom photo was taken at the edge of my sofa, a place that Mimi loves to chill out and relax. She had been playing around in the living room and wanted to come up on the sofa.Mimi has been such a joy to be around, and I love her to pieces. She is potty trained very well, and she happily goes into her crate when needed. She’s a little shy when meeting new people, but I have been socializing her as much as possible. I love taking her outside every day to play in the park in front of my parents house. She loves chewing on leaves and pieces of bark, which I have to watch out for.In the apartment, she has found a love for chewing the carpet. I had to sprinkle a little bit of vinegar around the edges so that she would stop chewing it, and that worked really well. She also likes to nip at my feet and my pants legs and my hands. I am trying to teach her to stop nipping, but I guess I’m not firm enough. I put my finger and thumb around her muzzle to stop it, and it works sometimes, but when she’s in her very playful mood, nothing works! Hopefully she will grow out of this stage when she gets her adult teeth. On Tuesday, we are going to PetSmart for puppy training class! I’m very excited about it.
